Reach Out and Read - Salud Family Health Center

At Salud Family Health Center in Longmont, we strive to make early literacy a standard part of our pediatric care through our Reach Out and Read program.

During every pediatric check-up from six months to five years of age, our healthcare providers encourage parents to read aloud to their children and give them each a brand new age-appropriate book to continue developing their child's literacy skills at home. Parents learn that reading aloud is the most important thing they can do to help their children love books and to start school ready to learn. Along with emphasizing literacy while with the doctor, our waiting room fosters the same literacy-rich environment, full of children's books and developmental information for parents. We continue to look for volunteer readers to read aloud to our young patients as they wait for their appointments.

If you are interested in volunteering with Salud Family Health Center's Reach Out and Read program, please contact Ryan Seibert at (303)776-3250 extension 2642 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
